Still others simply ride bicycles for fun. No matter your reason for choosing to take up cycling, you need to know some important things before you decide on your first bicycle. If you really want to choose the perfect cycling bicycle, you need to think about more than just what it looks like. The first thing you should think about, which is pretty obvious, needs to be the cost. Of course there are going to be other things to think about, like where you plan to ride or how long you will be using this bicycle, but the price is still most important.

If you are new to the bike buying business, you will see that the price can be anywhere from a few hundred dollars to a few thousand dollars. It's not going to matter if you don't have thousands of dollars to put on a bike, because there is a way you can find a great bike for a runaway price. You could check out bicycles that are being auctioned off and could save tons of money while getting the best bike for you.

Do you need extra gadgets for your bike? Perhaps a basket to help you carry items will be helpful, should your bike be what you'll be using most. Will a child ever be transported on your bike? Needing a child seat attachment will alter which bikes you can choose from. If towing something behind the bike, your need will change again. Your new bike needs to support the weight of the trailer if this is your plan.

The number of gears you’ll use will also affect your choice. If you are going to be travelling in relatively flat places, you will not need as many gears as you would need in rockier terrain or a terrain with lots of hills. The number of gears doesn’t make one bike better than another. Sometimes bike riders don’t ever use all the gears on their bike. It’s a waste of money to pay for all those unused gears.
